“So, Dani…”
Dani looked up from her laptop across her room to the grinning boy sitting on her bed. Glancing back at her Starcraft game, she shifted her eyes back at her male friend.
“W…what?” Dani raised an eyebrow. “Lee Donghae, you’re scaring me.”
Donghae smiled at her and shook his head slowly. Folding his arms across his chest, he raised his eyes.
“Miss Dani, or should I say D4N1, I have a theory.” Donghae stood up from the edge of Dani’s bed and began to pace back and forth. “You are constantly playing Starcraft. CONSTANTLY. Except in school, of course. Unless you tried to hack through the school filters,” He began. “Well, whatever. You’re addicted. Both you and Kyuhyun play that dumb game non-stop.”
Dani shrugged. “It gets my mind off things, I guess,” She turned back to her game. “What’s your point?”
“My point issssssss,” Donghae stopped pacing around the room and held up an intelligent looking finger in the air. “You need to do more than just sit around playing Starcraft all day! Do what James Brown sings in that song, about getting up and dancing and making you feel better.”
“Donghae-ah, I’m fine,” Dani sighed loudly as she defeated an enemy and collected her prize. “It’s not like I’m a shut in or anything.”
“Is that so?” Donghae questioned. “I think you are. The only time I ever get to hang out with you is when I invite myself over here after school and watch you play Starcraft! When do you even go to bed? When do you study?”
“People help me study on Starcraft,” Dani answered, eyes glued to the screen. Donghae puffed out his cheeks in annoyance and walked over to the monitor, turning off the power just as Dani was about to win a battle.
“HEY!” Dani screeched, punching Donghae. “Why did you do that, you asshole?! Now I’m going to…dammit. Donghae…” She shook her head in her hands. “I was just about to battle my biggest rival on Starcraft, GamerKyu.”
“GamerKyu?” Donghae completely ignored Dani’s obvious annoyance and leaned in closer to her. “GamerKyu is your Starcraft rival?”
“Mhm,” Dani nodded. “Until you went and freaking turned my game off.”
“But, Dani-ah, you know that’s Kyuhyun, right?” He asked. Dani lowered her hands from her face and looked up at him, her eyes slightly widened and cheeks tinted rose. He grinned at her. “Oops. I shouldn’t have told you.”
“K-kyuhyun’s my rival?!” Dani squealed, blushing hard. “I-I-I…what do I do? Him and I get along in the real world, b-but on Starcraft we’re on opposite teams so we never get along!”
“Ah, such a complicated romance, isn’t it?” Donghae spoke dramatically. “It’s a good thing he has a crush on you or e-“
“KYUHYUN OPPA LIKES ME?!” Dani screamed, making Donghae jump in surprise. The older boy nodded, sitting down on Dani’s bed.
“Yeah, he said one day after school ‘Wow hyung, did you see her? Lee Dani? She’s so hot. I want to kiss her all over-‘” He was cut short by Dani roughly kicking his leg, a sharp hiss of pain escaping his never shut lips. “Okay okay fine, he was like, ‘Hyung did you see her? She’s really pretty, but I don’t know how to approach her. She might think I’m just a nerdy no life.’”
“But I don’t think that about him at all,” Dani pouted. “When you talk to him tonight tell him to ask me out tomorrow at break time or something.”
“Aish, you’re so bossy,” Donghae rolled his eyes. “But fine, I’ll tell him. I’ll also tell him you want to kiss him all over-“ This time Donghae was on the floor cradling his crotch. Dani towered above the cowering figure with her hands on her hips.
“And don’t you dare tell him I’m his rival on Starcraft!”

Donghae later went home that night after being forced to plug back in Dani’s computer and watch her play Starcraft and continue to bring up Kyuhyun in conversation over and over. He called up his best friend, reminding him to bring the ranch dressing for their ‘super awesome salad’ they would both devour tomorrow during break and telling him that he needed to confess his feelings to Dani the same day.
“Why, hyung? It’s not like she knows,” Kyuhyun answered.
“Well lately you’ve just been a tad bit…obvious,” Donghae facepalmed himself at his lack of lying skill. Kyuhyun hummed in response along the other side of the line.
“Really? Does she know I’m GamerKyu?” He asked. Donghae swallowed.
“No,” Donghae answered a little too quickly. “How could she know? Nobody knows you’re GamerKyu but me. She just thinks you’re some nerdy Starcraft player, but she thinks you’re just an average nerdy Starcraft player,” He slurred quickly, emphasizing the word average.
“Mmmm, I don’t know hyung,” Kyuhyun responded. “I do have this mutual friend with Dani who does have quite the mouth.”
“Eunhyuk?” Donghae asked, clueless. “OH MY GOD. Do you know what he did to me today? I was about to sit down for lunch-“
“Hyung, I gotta go,” Kyuhyun lied. Donghae frowned deeply into the phone, knowing that Kyuhyun didn’t actually have to go. As if his frown could somehow be heard, Kyuhyun smirked on the other end. “It’s okay, I’ll see you tomorrow. Just don’t say anything to Dani, okay?”
“Are you going to confess to her or not?” Donghae quickly asked.
“Sure,” Kyuhyun answered. “But I’m not telling her that I’m GamerKyu. See you tomorrow, Donghae-ah.”
“Yah, Cho Kyuhyun!” Donghae exclaimed, only seconds after Kyuhyun hung up. The older boy stared at the phone and exhaled deeply. “Aish, it’s too late to tell me that.”

Dani stepped into the classroom, swiftly having to make her way silently past Kyuhyun’s seat (who just happened to sit right in the front of the room where she had to pass by in order to get to her seat). She kept her head lowered so she didn’t have to look at his face, but was completely caught off guard when she heard a sudden hum.
“Hey,” Dani glanced up to see Kyuhyun looking up at her, hair messily combed down and a thick novel in his hands. Dani stopped, confused to whether he was talking to her or somebody else.
“H-hi,” She sputtered. “H-h-how are you, O-oppa?”
“You don’t need to be so formal with me, call me Kyuhyun,” He laughed. Dani laughed nervously, beginning to feel blood rushing to her pale cheeks.
“Okay, Kyuhyun,” She smiled. She felt her heartbeat increase when she saw a tint of pink color Kyuhyun’s own cheeks. ‘What should I say to him now?’ Dani thought, swallowing.
“Dongsaeng, would it be okay if I talked to you alone during break?” Kyuhyun asked, his eyebrows furrowing together in what looked like panic of some sort. Dani took a long, deep breath of air, then exhaled deeply through her nose.
“S-sure. About what?”
“I’ve just gotta- oh, you better hurry and sit down, Mrs. Choi just walked in.” Dani looked over her shoulder to see a few students scurrying to their seats as her strict Math teacher opened the door.
“Y-yeah, I’ll meet you in here during break,” Dani spoke quickly, running to sit down. Kyuhyun grinned happily to himself. Success.

Class couldn’t have gone by any slower. Dani tried to distract herself from all her thoughts of Kyuhyun (and Donghae passing her notes writing Kyuhyun’s name with hearts all over) by paying the most attention she could to Mrs. Choi teaching them something about multiplying and dividing mixed fractions, then squaring them and something else about diving by pi. She would be completely aware of what the teacher was talking about one minute, then the next her thoughts would travel back to Kyuhyun and she’d be lost again. Her mind drifted to a daydream of what might happen during break.
‘Dani, I need to talk to you,’ Kyuhyun would speak, as if he were in a tragic Shakespearian play.
‘What is it, Oppa?’ Dani would run up to him, clinging to the front of the older boys uniform with her two hands. ‘Tell me!’
‘I…’ Kyuhyun would look at Dani, then down at the floor in distress. ‘I think I’m in love.’
‘What? In love with who?’ Dani would gasp, stepping away. ‘Who is she?’
‘She has long, straight, dark brown hair,’ Kyuhyun would dramatically turn and look out the window. ‘With gorgeous brown eyes and an amazing smile.’
‘You don’t mean…’
“Wake up, Dani-ah. It’s the time you’ve been waiting for.”
Donghae waved his hand in front of Dani’s face. She looked up, dazed for a moment, seeing three Donghae’s in front of her and billions of fingers.
“Did I fall asleep?” She asked, rubbing her eyes and stretching her legs.
“Kind of,” Donghae answered. “You sorta zoned out, but then you like…fell asleep with your eyes open. I take it back, it was really disgusting. Don’t ever do that again. You looked like a bug.” Dani smacked him in the arm when he began laughing. “No but really, it’s break time now,” He said. Dani widened her eyes.
“Already?!” She exclaimed, glancing around the now empty classroom. “W-where’s Kyuhyun Oppa?”
“He went to get some juice in the lunchroom, but he’s coming right back,” Donghae said. “So I’m going to leave now, so that you two can have some alone time together,” Smiling, he smacked Dani lightly on the shoulder. “Good luck!”
Dani felt her heart begin to pound in her seat as Donghae left the room. She felt…defenseless now. For some reason, Dani felt it would have likely been better if Donghae was THERE when Kyuhyun admitted his feelings to her then just the two of them alone. She was about to call out for him to wait, to stay, until the door slid open.
Dani nearly forgot how to breathe.
Trying to make herself look as cool and calm as humanly possible, she crossed her legs under her desk and pretended to reach sideways for something in her bag on the floor. Kyuhyun had two cans of juice in his hand as he approached her.
“I got you some juice,” Kyuhyun smiled sheepishly as he pointed out the obvious. Dani looked up from looking in her bag, acting surprised.
“Wow, thank you so much O- I mean, Kyuhyun,” She smiled and nodded gratefully to the older boy as he handed her one of the cans and sat down in the empty seat in front of her. “So, what did you want to talk to me about?” Dani asked, managing to keep herself from stuttering or forgetting how to speak overall.
“Uh…” Kyuhyun paused, cracking open his can. “I…”
“You?” Dani questioned, opening her lid too and taking a sip.
“Mmmmm,” Kyuhyun ran his index finger along the metal rim of the can. “I, well, uh…”
“I-if it makes it easier for you, I already know,” Dani said quietly, looking down at her lap. Kyuhyun’s eyes widened immensely, nearly choking on his drink.
“W-who told you?!” He asked. Dani bit her bottom lip, but it didn’t keep her from grinning.
“It’s not obvious? The one person we both know with a loud mouth.” They both laughed. “And, well, he told me about…GamerKyu.”
“I told him not to tell you, but…I of course knew he wouldn’t be able to keep quiet about something like that,” Kyuhyun answered. “When did he tell you?”
“Oh, it was just last night,” Dani waved her hands around, signaling that she hadn’t known for a long time. “How long did you know about me being your rival?” Kyuhyun shrugged in response.
“A few months, maybe,” He answered. “I’ve liked you for a longer time than that, though.”
“M-me too,” Dani stuttered, lowering her head. There was a long, awkward pause between the two. “S-so, if we both like each other…d-does this mean were boyf-friend and girlfriend?”
“U-uh,” Kyuhyun lowered his cherry red face also. “I-if you want to be. I’d really like that, Dani.”
“M-me too, GamerKyu,” Dani looked up, giggling. Kyuhyun looked up at the girl in front of him, smiling at her beautiful face. The two reached across the table next to their cans of juice and intertwined their fingers. “Does this mean we’re no longer rivals on Starcraft?”
“Nobody needs to know,” Kyuhyun whispered softly, slowly leaning across the table and gently kissing Dani’s lips.

first off, I’d like to apologize a million times and more about how late this is. I’d like to apologize for how I may have not used the exact plot you asked for, but I hope this is acceptable. I’d like to also apologize for how much time it took for me to write this, and the quality of it. I’m extremely sorry for making you wait this long. Please don’t put any of the blame onto CC Munchers, blame it on me. :/
